Q. Can I purchase standard piezocomposite materials from MSI?

A. MSI manufactures several standard configurations of 1-3 piezocomposite material, and can manufacture special configurations for more exacting applications. Some customization at the materials level may be needed in order to meet certain requirements.

Q. Does MSI provide technical support for its piezocomposite materials customers?

A. MSI can provide limited technical support to its piezocomposite materials customers based on information they provide about the operating environment, acoustic performance requirements and other pertinent factors.

Q. Is using piezocomposite similar to using piezoceramic?

Piezocomposite is not as straightforward to apply as piezoceramic. For more involved applications or situations where the customer encounters significant technical difficulties, MSI can either manufacture complete 1-3 transducer assemblies, fabricate 1-3 composite sub-assemblies and components for customer integration, or supply the raw 1-3 piezocomposite materials to customers who prefer to use their own manufacturing procedures.

Q. Does MSI produce injection molded ceramic components to print?

A. MSI will produce injection molded piezoceramics or other ceramics in large or small volumes to customer print after nonrecurring charges for tooling and set-up. For customers with large production needs for piezoceramic parts, MSI has substantial production capacity and can produce injection molded ceramic parts in high volumes. MSI's injection molding facility has produced precision ceramic shapes at rates up to 10,000 parts/shift/machine with multi-cavity tooling.

Q. Are AFC devices available off-the-shelf?

A. MSI does not maintain a stock of AFC devices but will custom manufacture these as required for high volume applications.
